About the Event
Explore several 'little' churches that are the bedrock of Chicago's skyscraper canyons. This annual tour is a fabulous study of art, culture and light. The churches are beacons of peace in a busy city and elemental in designing the down-town in civic and spiritual ways. They inspire characters of all sorts including, in fact, the first official U.S. citizen canonized as a saint, Mother Cabrini.
This year, we are including a special visit to a little known chapel in the heart of the city, named after a woman who embodied the spirit of charity that makes this season special. The St Louise de Merillac chapel is the epicenter that anchors a network of 150 satellite offices at Catholic Charities that provide a broad array of services including housing assistance, couseling and education. Please join us to enjoy a little peace and quiet, history and well ordered beauty before setting out on your Christmas gift-hunting this winter!
Meet at: Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 323 W Illinois St., Chicago (please park in the Merchandise Mart parking facility on Orleans - free validation included.)
See also: St Joseph on N. Orleands, and St Louise de Merillac Chapel at Catholic Charities on N. LaSalle Street.
Tickets must be purchased in advance. Transportation is not included, parking available.
