Work has begun on a $750,000 conservation and stabilization of the convent at Mission San José Church, a section of ruins behind the mission church that includes three one-story rooms and two-story walls with arches that form a rectangular courtyard. The project, funded by the National Park Service and guided by a University of Texas at San Antonio study, is expected to be completed by June.
